This has been a difficult area to collect because of the fact that so little was able to survive the fire bombings of Japan; the islands that Japan occupied lacked cities; and American Marines were not able to easily bring back souvenirs. The central part of this display relates to events in Japan from the time of the invasion of China through the American bombings. Japan's Declaration of War on the United States and Britain is exhibited, as well as many photographs of the invasion of China, artifacts showing the militaristic atmosphere in Japan in the 1930's and 1940's, and American leaflets dropped on Japan by B-29's as America brought the war to Japan's homeland.
